When I began my health and wellness approach I reframed my view and looked at it as a combined Overall Health Journey. I no longer look at weight loss as something on a checklist to complete and mark off, it is part of my life’s path and way of living along with managing my stress and loving myself with the same kindness I want to show those around me. After saying goodbye to 100 lbs. I am still on that path today, it’s not perfect and there are ups and downs, however I strive to be mindful about my food and drink choices. I laugh more and my family celebrates differently now, not every occasion is centered around the table and we look for activities to go do instead. As I look at the holidays I am so Thankful for both my family and FUB family for supporting me and continuing to encouraging me all the way. I am also incredibly thankful to First United for all the Health and Wellness resources they have made available. The Health & Wellness Pillar was one of the many benefits that drew me to want to work for First United. After five years, I can honestly say I am the healthiest I have ever been. I believe that the encouragement and optional programs have played a tremendous part in what I have been able to accomplish. In five years, I have naturally shed over 75 pounds, increased my endurance, started running 5Ks and participating in fun runs, adopted a very healthy diet that has improved my overall well-being, and engaged in weightlifting, yoga, and cycling.
