National Nutrition Month

Health and wellness March 1, 2020 By First United Bank

March is recognized as National Nutrition month. Did you know that choosing good nutrition and a healthy diet has many benefits? It helps your overall health, and reduces your risk for certain diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure and certain kinds of cancer.

Whatever your age, the nutritional habits you choose now can affect your health for the rest of your life. Making small adjustments in our food choices, can add up over time. How much we eat is just as important as what we eat, including the consumption of beverages other than water.

According to Dietary Guidelines published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), you can keep a healthy diet if you make smart food choices, find a balance between exercise and eating, and get the most nutrition from every calorie.

Remember, there is no one diet that is right for everyone, so it is important to follow a healthful eating plan that is packed with tasty foods and that keeps your unique lifestyle in mind!
