A proud West Texas native, Allen attended Texas Tech University before entering the insurance industry in 1989 as a commercial insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance. An entrepreneur at heart, in 1993 Allen started Independent Insurance Group along with current Director of Operations Ricky Locke.
Having been raised around the construction, ranching, and oil & gas industries, Allen has focused his passion for helping business owners protect their hard-earned assets in these areas. With his specialized knowledge from firsthand experience, coupled with the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist certification from the International Risk Management Institutes, Allen has developed a thriving practice by providing his clients facing unique and complex risks with the peace of mind of a well-tailored insurance program.
Allen additionally focuses much of his time and energy on giving back to the insurance industry. He is an active member of the various insurance trade associations in North Texas, serving as a Board Member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas both from 2000-2002 and from 2014-2018. His passion for helping business owners doesn’t stop with his clients, as Allen devotes much of his time to working with other insurance agency owners to advance the image of the insurance industry and attract top talent to the industry.
Allen is married to his wife Megan of 35 years and has three children, Connor who joined the agency in 2014, Luke who is currently in the United States Marine Corp, and Hallie who is a Doctor of Audiology.
In addition to spending time with his family, Allen enjoys traveling, barbequing (often for the benefit of his co-workers and clients), playing golf, and snow skiing.
